摘要: A study was made of organisms concerned with the red discoloration salted hides, also termed "red heat", which defect may occasion loss in leather industry through spotting and weakening fibre. Red halophilic sarcinae were isolated from Argentine hide. From Canadian hides showing discoloration, two species pleomorphic rods as active agents. One these, occurring on cowhides, found to be similar Serratia salinaria (Harrison Kennedy) Bergey et al., a source reddening cured codfish eastern Canada. The other organism causing buffalo hide, regarded new designated cutirubra n.sp.
