What kind of science can information science be

摘要: During the 20th century there was a strong desire to develop an information science from librarianship, bibliography, and documentation in 1968 American Documentation Institute changed its name Society for Information Science. By beginning of 21st century, however, departments (library and) had turned instead towards social sciences. These programs address variety important topics, but they have been less successful providing coherent explanation nature scope field. Progress can be made coherent, unified view roles archives, libraries, museums, online services, related organizations if are treated as information-providing services. However, such approach seems significantly incomplete on ordinary understandings information. Instead asking what is or we might wish it become, ask kind field given our assumptions about it. We question by examining some keywords: science, information, knowledge, interdisciplinary. conclude that concerned with people know, then form cultural engagement, at most, artificial.
