摘要: Objective To develop an instrument to measure health status in adult insulin-dependent (type I) and non-insulin-dependent II) diabetic patients. Research Design Methods Correlative study examine psychometric properties of the questionnaire. Test-retest reliability, item-scale correlations, principal-components analysis, correlations with global clinical ratings, data extracted from medical records were examined at diabetes clinics University California, Davis, Medical Center. Patients volunteer clinic patients able complete One hundred thirty completed a first administration questionnaire, 52 second administration. Results reliability was satisfactory. Item-scale showed that 40 44 questionnaire items highly correlated subscale total scale scores. Principal-components analysis identified one major factor measured by Cronbach9s α, scales9 internal consistency, satisfactory magnitude. Global ratings clinicians Correlations scores generally low magnitude but, where significant, consistently direction hypothesized if truly measures or disease impact. Conclusions The Diabetes Impact Management Scales (DIMS) is easily administered consistency test-retest reliability. Preliminary correlative analyses support validity as type I II Further work will be necessary firmly establish DIMS its usefulness outcomes research.
