摘要: Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a medical modality that uses combination of visible light and photosensitive compound in the presence oxygen. It widely used to treat non-melanoma skin cancer; other indications are being investigated, especially onychomycosis. Eighty patients with toenail onychomycosis were enrolled completed this randomized, parallel, placebo-controlled study. For 24 weeks, 40 (Group A) treated one placebo capsule per week sessions 2% methylene blue aqueous solution irradiated emission diode device (MBLED/PDT) 18 J/cm(2) ; another B) 300 mg oral fluconazole PDT (haematoxylin-diluted 1 : 10). The use MBLED/PDT consisted an interval 15 days between each session for 6 months. Microbiological clinical cure was assessed at 12 months posttreatment. Group A showed significant response (p < 0.002) compared B (fluconazole), who required nail abrasion 0.001). safe, effective, well tolerated; it promotes favorable outcome good patient adherence may be considered as practical feasible treatment option
