摘要: Most positron emission tomography (PET) studies of regional cerebral function in idiopathic torsion dystonia (ITD) have failed to show abnormalities, but there been few the changes blood flow (rCBF) that occur during movement dystonia. Using PET, we studied six patients with familial generalized ITD both at rest and while moving a joystick right hand. The patterns CBF change obtained were compared those age-matched control subjects. In group, free selection was associated relative increases rCBF above observed subjects left premotor area, supplementary motor area (SMA), anterior cingulate cortex, dorsolateral prefrontal area. Subcortical within cerebellum putamen. There decrease through contralateral primary sensorimotor cortex. These findings contrast reported Parkinson's disease undertaking same task which activity SMA putamen decreased. We suggest arm is overactivity areas, including SMA, this results from release thalamus normal inhibitory influence globus pallidus internal segment. Other abnormalities basal ganglia brain stem centers may be involved axial
