摘要: Nanotechnology is an exciting field of investigation for the development new treatments many human diseases. However, it necessary to assess biocompatibility nanoparticles in vitro and vivo before considering clinical applications. Our characterization polyol-produced maghemite γ-Fe2O3 showed high structural quality. The particles a homogeneous spherical size around 10 nm could form aggregates depending on dispersion conditions. Such were efficiently taken up by endothelial cells, which represent first biological barrier vivo. can cause cell death within 24 hours exposure, most likely through oxidative stress. Further exploration suggests that although are rapidly cleared urine, they lead toxicity liver, kidneys lungs, while brain heart remain unaffected. In conclusion, exhibit harmful properties therefore surface coating, cellular targeting, local exposure should be considered developing
