摘要: Without prevention, a third of HIV-exposed infants acquire HIV in breastfeeding populations before, during, or after delivery through mother-to-child transmission (MTCT). Whereas MTCT is now sentinel event resource-rich countries with antiretroviral prophylaxis, caesarean section, and avoidance breastfeeding, this not yet the case resource-poor settings because crucial to infant survival. Recent advances postpartum maternal prophylaxis enables safer increasing numbers women accessing treatment prevention services sub-Saharan Africa leading optimism that could be eliminated here also, as reflected UNAIDS target 2015.
