摘要: Habitat use of introduced pumpkinseed Lepomis gibbosus in small European streams has received little study despite the species' potential associations to native fauna conservation and angling amenity, e.g. brook lamprey Lampetra planeri, bullhead Cottus gobio, brown trout Salmo trutta. We examined body size, relative condition, habitat species-species with accompanying fishes two southern England during August 2001. Pumpkinseed condition decreased density; latter correlated % clay riparian grasses fish 63 mm FL, shrubs 83-92 FL water depth > 92 FL. Most size classes occurred more often than expected stretches conspecifics >300 FL; densities did not correlate any variables. Indeed, correlations between variables were observed mainly smaller classes. other species corresponded known levels rheophily; substratum, channel slope, width trees also important dispersal establishment under conditions climatic change, which could have ecological management ramifications, are discussed.
