摘要: This paper focuses on type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), and the significant health implications it has individuals living in currently disadvantaged peri-urban areas South Africa. Given public socio-economic burden Africa faces due to scarce resources escalating rates of chronic diseases, prevention strategies which impact modifiable risk factors for T2DM are vital. The population interest was children adolescents informal settlements outskirts Cape Town. suggested behaviour change increase maintenance a more physically active healthy lifestyle, thereby facilitating weight loss lowering developing T2DM. Brief motivational interviewing (BMI) based interventions, aimed at encouraging modify their patterns introduced. Transformative communication, self-efficacy social support also emphasised as crucial contributing promotion desired changes.
