The meanings and context of smoking among Mexican university students.

摘要: Objectives. We sought to describe the dominant social contexts and meanings of smoking among Mexican university students. Methods. Structured observations were made individual in-depth interviews conducted with 43 students who at five levels involvement (i.e., never smoker; ex-smoker; experimenter; regular frequent smoker). Content analysis interview transcripts was used distill primary settings themes that associated smoking. Results. Outside their homes away from purview parents, environments frequented permissive smoking, supporting perceptions behavior, cigarettes, tobacco industry as normal socially acceptable. Cigarette a highly practice, practicing simultaneous cigarette sharing underscore bonds others. Moreover, leisure times places in which smoked appeared bolster cigarettes offering them pleasurable relaxation escape boredom conflictual relations. All believed addictive second-hand smoke dangerous non-smokers. The short-term negative outcomes more salient than either longer-term health or practices industry.
