摘要: Objective Ovarian cancer screening with transvaginal ultrasound (TVU) and CA-125 was evaluated in the Prostate, Lung, Colorectal (PLCO) Trial. Study design This a randomized controlled trial of versus usual care. Baseline results are reported. Results Of 39,115 women to receive screening, 28,816 received at least 1 test. Abnormal TVU found 1338 (4.7%), abnormal 402 (1.4%). Twenty-nine neoplasms were identified (26 ovarian, 2 fallopian, primary peritoneal neoplasm). Nine tumors low malignant potential 20 invasive. The positive predictive value for invasive 3.7% an CA-125, 1.0% TVU, 23.5% if both tests abnormal. Conclusion effect on ovarian mortality PLCO cohort has yet be will require longer follow-up. Screening early- late-stage neoplasms, relatively low.
