摘要: A variety of studies have shown articulatory asymmetries between consonants which are initial vs. final in their syllable and/or word; however, the asymmetry is not always found and its nature clear. In this paper we investigate some factors that might seem to make less than universal, using dynamic electropalatography. First, considered a range consonants, see whether only classes show asymmetry, it for non-sibilant non-continuants /t/ /d/ /k/ /n/ /l/, but sibilant fricatives, though all showed an acoustic duration. Second, how wordlevel interacts with phrase-level effects on articulation, can be countered by independent effect position utterance. Third, pilot study word-level distinguished from syllable-level no systematic or consistent differences were found.
