摘要: Cases of common bile duct (CBD) wall thickening due to varicose dilation intramural veins consequential portal vein thrombosis (PVT) are rare and present a considerable differential diagnostic problem, as they can mimic cholangiocarcinoma. In such cases, colour Doppler ultrasound (CD US) is very valuable method. There only few reports in literature on CD US findings collateral circulation thickened CBD following PVT. A patient with obstructive jaundice, tumour the pancreatic head, thickening, pre-existing PVT presented. demonstrated thrombosed duct, thus ruling out mass CBD. Obstructive jaundice seldom occurs choledocal varices. this patient, obstruction was carcinoma head.
