摘要: Kaohsiung is a city of 1.5 million located in the southern part Taiwan. It has serious air pollution problem mainly attributable to much industrial and commercial activity. In order estimate effects traffic, season, meteorological conditions on mutagenicity City`s urban ambient particulate matter, 624 airborne samples were collected weekly basis from 12 locations for an entire year. The mutagenic potential acetone extracts was evaluated by Salmonella/microsomal test with S. typhimurium TA98 presence absence S9 mixtures. November 1990 showed highest direct indirect among months, whereas those June July 1991 had lowest activity, respectively. good correlation amounts extractable matter particulates. conditions, monthly mean precipitation, wind speed also correspondence mutagenicity. Wind direction temperature moderate relationship. major fractions that activity month purified using Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography, contents PAHs, 1-NP, DNPs weremore » analyzed HPLC. characteristic concentration ratios PAHs indicated that, main sources particulates city, mobile more important than stationary ones. total 1-NP seemed correspond their Although correlated mutagenicity, chemicals City need further investigation.« less
