Direct Observation of a Widely Spaced Periodic Row Structure at the Pentacene/Au(111) Interface Using Scanning Tunneling Microscopy

摘要: The transition from surface to bulk pentacene at the Au(111) interface will have important implications for mechanism of carrier transport across interface. STM observations molecules on surface, more than a monolayer coverage, revealed periodic rows spaced 61 ± 5 A apart. These widely consist flat and edge-on aligned with initial layer pentacene. Commensuration characteristic pentacene−pentacene interactions drive formation this unique structure.
