摘要: The initial stages and formation of subsequent layers in the room-temperature epitaxy Ag on Au(111) have been studied using a scanning tunneling microscope ultrahigh vacuum. Overall, growth is layer by layer. At submonolayer coverages fingerlike rows locked to (p\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{} \ensuremath{\surd}3 ) rectangular reconstruction observed. One monolayer removes substrate surface reconstruction. Higher exhibit clustering coalescence terrace shapes consistent with symmetry Ag(111) surface.
