摘要: Human-carnivore conflict can threaten human life and livelihoods, leading to retaliation that negatively affects carnivore conservation. The endangered African wild dog Lycaon pictus is prone human-carnivore conflict. Therefore, it imperative understand which landscape features are associated with occurrence since selection or avoidance of these could predict the levels We investigated resource in relation four anthropogenic (livestock density, agriculture, roads land use) within may pose a mortality risk, as well one natural feature (nature reserves). compared spatio-temporal space use patterns packs north-eastern South Africa. Data were collected from collared individual per pack. These constituted approximately 10% total remaining population Two occurred outside Kruger National Park had access multiple areas farmland other features, whereas two mainly boundaries but made occasional forays park boundaries. Utilising Resource Selection Functions GIS analyses, we found agricultural nature reserves important predictors for all packs. In addition potential farmers, high odds on fast-moving traffic road was highlighted concern three While farms house livestock readily available, pack presence few low densities, pointing where resulting occur. Our study highlights threats persistence dog, be used inform future conservation efforts species.
