摘要: Although an injured medial collateral ligament (MCL) will naturally heal, the quality of healing tissue is inferior to uninjured MCL tissue. Previous studies have shown promising results sodium orthovanadate (vanadate) in enhancing rat skin wounds. This study therefore investigated whether vanadate enhances terms collagen fibril organization and diameter. Six mature male Sprague-Dawley rats, with weight ranges 475-505 g ages 25 weeks, were used this study. Three rats experimental group received (0.2 mg/ml) their saline drinking water (150 mM NaCl), whereas three control only given water. weeks after transection, MCLs harvested for hematoxylin eosin (H&E) staining transmission electron microscopy. It was found that promoted fibrils significantly increased diameters by 14% (P<0.001). These indicate application may be a engineering approach enhance tissues such as MCLs.
