摘要: This experiment was designed to test the hypothesis that in presence of regenerating nerve fibers long-term denervated skeletal muscle does not become reinnervated. tested rats by transplantation 22-month extensor digitorum longus (EDL) muscles into sites EDL contralateral, normally innervated legs. Two months after transplantation, contracted when stimulated via motor nerve, and based on silver-acetylcholinesterase staining, all grafts possessed end plates. Compared values for control old rats, maximum force developed standard free 19% 7%. For grafts, stimulation produced a 81% direct stimulation, young were 96 90%, respectively. These results show denervation rat are capable becoming functionally reinnervated, even though time reinnervation animals have attained an advanced age 26 months.
