Balneotherapy at the Dead Sea area for patients with psoriatic arthritis and concomitant fibromyalgia.

摘要: BACKGROUND Balneotherapy has been successfully used to treat various rheumatic diseases, but only recently evaluated for the treatment of fibromyalgia. Since no effective exists this common disease, complementary methods have attempted. OBJECTIVES To assess effectiveness balneotherapy at Dead Sea area in patients suffering from both fibromyalgia and psoriatic arthritis. METHODS Twenty-eight with arthritis were treated modalities area. Clinical indices assessed duration morning stiffness, number active joints, a point count 18 fibrositic tender points, determination threshold tenderness nine four control points using dolorimeter. RESULTS The joints was reduced 18.4 +/- 10.9 9 8.2 (P < 0.001). 12.6 2 7.1 5 men 0.003) 13.1 7.5 3.7 women A significant improvement found dolorimetric readings after period No correlation observed between reduction same (r = 0.2).
