A Triple Origin for the Heavy and Low-Spin Binary Black Holes Detected by LIGO/Virgo.

摘要: We explore the masses, merger rates, eccentricities, and spins for field binary black holes driven to by a third companion through Lidov-Kozai mechanism. Using population synthesis approach, we model creation of stellar-mass hole triples across range different initial conditions stellar metallicities. find that production triple-mediated mergers is enhanced at low metallicities factor ~100 due lower natal kicks reduced mass loss. These naturally yield heavy with near-zero effective spins, consistent most observed date. This process produces rate between 2 25 Gpc^-3 yr^-1 in local universe, suggesting mechanism can potentially explain all low-spin, Advanced LIGO/Virgo. Finally, show admit unique eccentricity spin distribution will allow this be tested near future.
