摘要: Abstract This chapter begins with a traditional, cultural story of indigenous leadership from young woman the Ngāti Awa tribe in Bay Plenty, New Zealand. Some would say her acts went against traditional gender roles order to ensure safety people. Others she demonstrated duality between male and female roles. We consider this within context ongoing marginalization educational disparities faced by disproportionate numbers Māori students Zealand’s secondary schools.
