摘要: Our hypothesis is that early planktonic algae developed ultraviolet protective screens similar to those found in marine invertebrates (for example see Cheng et al. (1978)). We present here evidence some with are still extant. In day environments of intense sunlight, these may yet today be a selective advantage for primitive photosynthetic organisms.
