Theoretical and experimental results of a mesoscale electric power generation system from pressurized gas flow

摘要: In many process applications where throttling is used to reduce pressure, the potential obtain net work output sacrificed process. Examples are valves of gas pipelines and conventional throttles in automotive or turbo expanders as cryogenic plants. With a new pressure reduction system that produces electricity while expanding gas, lost can be recovered. To achieve high power density, this energy generation requires an increased operating speed electrical machine turbomachinery. This paper presents miniature compressed-air-to-electric-power system, based on radial turbine with rated rotational 490 000 rpm electric 150 W. A comprehensive description including turbine, diffuser permanent magnet (PM) generator given. Finally, measurements maximum over 600 rpm, 170 W, torque 5.2 mN m efficiency 52% presented.
