摘要: Abstract Cortical synchronization is of interest because its similarity to the spontaneously occurring cortical spindle bursts associated with sleep and other states central nervous system suppression. Although diffuse thalamic projection primarily this response, subcortical regions demonstrate involvement visceral, somatic, endocrine correlates these states. The preoptic region hypothalamus particular in regard, present experiment attempted determine whether a cortically directed influence from also exits. Stimulation recording experiments were performed brains acutely prepared, immobilized adult cats. Stimulating electrodes lowered into anterior hypothalamic basal forebrain regions. Electroencephalographic activity several areas was monitored during stimulation. An immediate sustained observed upon stimulation specific preoptic-basal zone, which has been named synchronizing area. A second focus inducing medial amygdaloid complex. interactions area brainstem reticular activating assessed experiments, prevailing appeared depend on factor order intensity It noted that induced completely abolished by intravenous administration 15 mg per kg Nembutal. We believe significant, it provides stable anatomical starting point for further exploration suppressor mechanisms.
