摘要: Abstract Research by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and others has shown that food prices in vary widely, yet stamp benefits are same throughout country. To examine impact local on food-buying power recipients, a market basket based USDA's Thrifty Food Plan (TFP), upon which allotments based, was priced selected areas New York State late May–June September–October 1989. In both survey periods, mean costs supermarkets varied from 93% current USDA TFP cost an upstate urban county (Onondaga County), to near 96% rural Tioga County, 104% borough Brooklyn City. Costs smaller stores ranged 107 111% cost. June 1989, household receiving maximum allotment would fall 4 about 12% short resources needed buy sampled County Brooklyn, at least 17% all three areas. Results indicate State, higher than national average can contribute insecurity. Recommendations made regarding policies improve security low income consumers.
