摘要: Chronic low back pain (CLBP) is a complex health problem of psychological manifestations not fully understood. Using interpretive phenomenological analysis, 11 semi-structured interviews were conducted to help understand the meaning lived experience CLBP; focusing on response and role depression, catastrophizing, fear-avoidance behavior, anxiety somatization. Participants characterized CLBP as persistent tolerable (TLBP) interrupted by periods intolerable (ILBP). ILBP contributed recurring bouts helplessness, frustration with medical system increased fear based perceived consequences anticipated recurrences, all which mediated uncertainty such pain. During times TLBP participants pursued permanent consciousness they felt susceptible recurrence. As progressed, living weakness, became isolated from those without integrated into their self-concept.
