Resistance to barley scald (Rhynchosporium secalis) in the Ethiopian donor lines ‘Steudelli’ and ‘Jet’, analyzed by partial least squares regression and interval mapping

摘要: The resistance of barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) to Rhynchosporium secalis (scald) has been investigated in two crosses between the susceptible cv. ‘Ingrid’ and resistant Ethiopian landraces, ‘Steudelli’ ‘Jet’. Doubled haploids were inoculated replicated tests using isolates R. secalis, ‘4004’ ‘WRS1872’. Expression differed widely tests. AFLP, SSR RFLP markers used develop chromosome maps. Results have analysed partial least squares regression (PLSR) interval mapping. In PLSR major covariance structures or ‘latent variables’ X (markers) Y (isolates, tests) are modelled as principal components their optimal number determined by cross-validation. QTL detected, one on each chromosomes 3H 7H, 4 out 5 tests, while ‘Jet’ only (different) allele at locus was found. validated R2 varied 11.0% 64.9% with ‘4004’.With isolate ‘WRS1872’ 7H another detected. By mapping detected less stable generally gave lower values than PLSR. does not depend maps, but based predicted had around 90%. It is suggested that may be a useful tool analysis.
