The occurrence of stanols in various living organisms and the behavior of sterols in contemporary sediments

摘要: Abstract Unsaturated sterols (stenols) and saturated (stanols) in phytoplankton Zooplankton from Lake Suwa higher plants around the lake were analyzed by combined GLC MS. In all organisms investigated, 5α-cholestanol, 24-methylcholestan-3β-ol 24-ethyl-5α-cholestanol found, although low concentrations, together with large quantities of stenols. This strongly suggests contribution stanols living to recent sediments. Findings incubation experiments cholesterol 5α-cholestanol surface sediment extending through 450 days suggest following: (1) are slowly degraded tend survive unaltered sediments comparison stenols, (2) a relatively oxidative depositional environment such as Suwa, greater part originates organisms, (3) reduction zone which degradation is suppressed rapid hydrogenation stenols takes place may be microbiologically active 1 cm about 10 (4) increase ratio depth below caused simultaneous progress preferential slow during long-term preservation
