摘要: Background. In this study, we investigated the prognostic role of homotypic tumor cell cannibalism in different cancer types. Methods. The phenomenon one being internalized into another, which refer to as “cell-in-cell event,” was assessed 416 cases from five head and neck cohorts, well anal rectal cohort. samples were processed tissue microarrays immunohistochemically stained for E-cadherin cleaved caspase-3 visualize membranes apoptotic death. Results. Cell-in-cell events found all cohorts. frequency ranged 0.7 17.3 cell-in-cell per mm2. Hardly any cells within structures, although rates about 1.6 two times high same sample. High numbers showed adverse effects on patients’ survival multivariate analysis, an factor overall patients with (). Conclusion. predict patient outcomes various types better than apoptosis proliferation might therefore be used guide treatment strategies.
