摘要: The spawning cycle of the European hake (Merluccius merluccius, (Linnaeus, 1758)) was studied in two western Mediterranean areas, Catalan Sea and northern Tyrrhenian Sea, including observation monthly seasonal variation gonad maturity gonadosomatic index (GSI). estimation stages by GSI gave similar values study areas: stage (IV) easily distinguished from other its range showed a low overlap with III no stages. Although both areas active females were present during all sampled months, peak reproductive activity concentrated February to May but August December which subjected winter cascading events. Batch fecundity Seas: 204 202 eggs per gonad-free female gram, respectively. An asynchronous oocyte development is suggested for M. merluccius Mediterranean.
