摘要: Background: A proportion of patients do not recover fully from surgery or they develop chronic postsurgical pain. The aim this study was to examine the incidence and predictors unfavourable long-term outcome after using a prospective cohort design. Methods: Some 401 undergoing various elective surgical procedures filled in RAND 36-item Health Survey 1·0 health-related quality-of-life questionnaire before operation at 6 12 months follow-up assess changes pain, physical functioning, mental health vitality. Preoperative psychological assessment obtained. Results: Most showed improvement aspects quality life surgery, but considerable (14–24 per cent) still deterioration months. Multivariable linear regression analysis identified acute postoperative duration preoperative condition as most important pain functioning. fear also had small significant contribution. main vitality were optimism. Conclusion: Up quarter experienced suboptimal recovery surgery. Both somatic factors associated with outcome. Optimal could be promoted by effective interventions on malleable factors.
