摘要: Objective: Statins stimulate bone formation by inducing the expression of morphogenetic proteins (BMP-2). The aim our study was to investigate effects orally administered simvastatin on spinal fusion in rats. Methods: Twenty rats were randomized into a group (SF) (n=10) or and oral (SFS) (n=10). A performed between L4-L6 representing two levels. Simvastatin (120 mg/kg/day) SFS group. killed at end 12 week period. Results: Manual palpation revealed moderate fusions SF did not reveal any signs pseudoarthrosis. An average three-point bending force causing failure results 148.80±39.403 Newtons 123.80±28.479 groups, respectively (p>0.05). Histological examination better grades (mean: 9.30±0.949) than 6.80±2.044) (p=0.003). Radiographic Grade C levels 18 In group, detected one level 19. Conclusion: Our suggest that can promote be used as an adjunct procedures elderly population with high cholesterol
