摘要: Abstract A series of glasses in the xPb3O4–(1−x)P2O5 (red lead phosphate) (RLP) system with `x' varying from 0.075 to 0.4 were prepared by single-step melt quenching process Pb3O4 and NH4H2PO4. The optical absorption spectra these have been recorded ultraviolet region 200 400 nm fundamental edges identified. band gap Eopt values determined for all using known theories. (Eopt) vary 4.90 3.21 eV highest being 4.57 eV, corresponding most stable glass x=0.225. edge is attributed indirect transitions origin Urbach energy ΔE suggested be thermal vibrations. These promise as potential candidates application technology compared simple xPbO–(1−x)P2O5 (lead (LP) glasses.
