摘要: Abstract Four genes (α2, α3, α4 and β2) have been reported as encoding subunits of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) in chicken brain. The mRNAs transcribed from these here localised to particular regions using situ hybridisation histochemistry. β2 mRNA was clearly most abundant transcript, being widely distributed throughout chick In cerebellum, all four species were present, although they showed different cellular patterns distribution. Only α2 found significant amounts optic tectum. lateral spiriform nucleus, while mRNA, very abundant, a subgroup neurons containing mRNA. This represents first evidence that individual cells may express two nAChR α subunit vivo. distributions 4 few common features. suggests other neuronal remain be identified, are not generally expressed same constitute single macromolecular complex. results therefore provide for heterogeneity central nervous system.
