Nutritional efficacy and hepatic changes during intragastric, intravenous, and prehepatic feeding in rats

摘要: The nutritional efficacy and hepatic changes in rats given a total parenteral nutrition (TPN) solution consisting of 4.25% amino acids 25% dextrose by intragastric, intravenous, or prehepatic routes were studied over 4-day period. Rats fed Purina Chow intragastric TPN maintained body weight showed no appreciable fatty change liver. In contrast, loss, hepatomegaly, 37% increase liver lipid content observed intravenous 60% after TPN. Approximately half the developed Serum albumin concentration protein not improved SGOT SGPT elevated only. Prehepatic may result injury offers apparent benefit conventional rats.
