摘要: Recent advances in quadrupole TOF (Q-TOF) MS have some bioanalytical scientists referring to a 'paradigm shift' their field. They are speaking of potential move away from workflows based upon triple-quadrupole MS. Gone would be the optimizing numerous parameters selected-reaction monitoring (SRM) experiments, replaced with more generic provided by Q-TOF instruments high data acquisition rates, excellent mass accuracy (≤5 ppm) and resolving power (≥30,000). Such could pay real dividends for high-throughput workflows, especially drug metabolism pharmacokinetics analyses where quantitation qualification studies actually merged. But, modern Q-TOF-MS instruments, touted as high-resolution MS, ready this? If not, how close is it? This article will examine these questions reviewing recent technology fascinating orthogonal (such ion mobility) that Q-TOFs employ even greater analytical power.
