摘要: the Large-Scale Biosphere-Atmosphere Experiment in Amazonia (LBA) has resulted an unprecedented international effort to understand functioning of vegetation and its interaction with atmosphere hydrosphere. As a result, is now almost certainly best studied major tropical forest region world, although our journey comprehensive understanding this system only just beginning. Some key questions that LBA asked relation soils included following: (1) How does structure Amazonian forests vary across region; what factors drive variation? (2) much carbon stored soils; store increasing or decreasing response contemporary environmental change? (3) supply nitrogen, phosphorus, other nutrients affect viability sustainability management practices after conversion land uses? (4) respond seasonal, interannual, long-term drought? (5) What role play global climatic teleconnections budgets atmospheric trace gases? (6) are changing, how will they change climate In introduction, we provide brief overview themes discussed section. We do not introduce chapters sequence but rather when appropriate narrative.
