摘要: Triggering behavioral adaptation upon the detection of adversity is crucial for survival. The insular cortex has been suggested to process emotions and homeostatic signals, but how detects internal states mediates poorly understood. By combining data from fiber photometry, optogenetics, awake two-photon calcium imaging comprehensive whole-brain viral tracings, we here uncover a role posterior insula in processing aversive sensory stimuli emotional bodily states, as well exerting prominent top-down modulation ongoing behaviors mice. employing projection-specific describe an insula-to-central amygdala pathway mediate anxiety-related behaviors, while independent nucleus accumbens-projecting regulates feeding changes state. Together, our support model which can shift strategies providing new entry point understand alterations circuitry may contribute neuropsychiatric conditions.
