摘要: BACKGROUND: In routine practice, assessment of the nutritional status critically ill patients still relies on traditional methods such as anthropometric measurements, biochemical markers, and predictive equations. OBJECTIVE: To compare resting energy expenditure measured by indirect calorimetry (REEIC) with REE calculated using Harris-Benedict equation 3 different sources body weight (from bed scale, REEHB1; ideal weight, REEHB2; predicted REEHB3). METHODS: This study included 205 (115 men, 90 women) evaluated within first 48 hours admission undergoing mechanical ventilation. was for 30 minutes weight. Data were compared Bland-Altman method. RESULTS: The values based (REEHB2 REEHB3) did not agree REEIC. analysis showed that limits agreement varied from +796.1 kcal/d to -559.6 REEHB2 +809.2 -564.7 REEHB3. REEIC REEHB1 (body determined scale) agreed best; bias -18.8 kcal/d. However, overestimated +555.3 underestimated it -593.0 kcal/d. CONCLUSION: For measuring in ventilation, calculation via equation, regardless source cannot be substituted calorimetry.
