摘要: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is one of the most common neurodegenerative disorders known. Estimates from Association suggest that there are currently 5.8 million Americans living with and this will rise to 14 by 2050. Research over decades has revealed AD pathology complex involves a number cellular processes. In addition well-studied amyloid-β tau pathology, oxidative damage lipids inflammation also intimately involved. One aspect all these processes share eicosanoid signaling. Eicosanoids derived polyunsaturated fatty acids enzymatic or non-enzymatic means serve as short-lived autocrine paracrine agents. Some eicosanoids exacerbate while others remediate pathology. A thorough understanding signaling paramount for underlying mechanisms developing potential treatments AD. review, metabolism examined in terms vivo production, sites receptor signaling, non-AD biological functions, known participation
