摘要: Abstract The use of Ecosystem Services (ES) indicators can help designing, implementing and monitoring public environmental policies. Such may be used as a support tool for natural resources management, like in forest areas, which are important ES providers. In this context, military areas particularly challenging due to the nature activities conducted need conciliate them with ecological protection, without undermining readiness. It is argued that addition technical issues, considering stakeholders’ opinions beneficial selection design indicators. main aim research develop supported by participatory indicator process. A case study made an Atlantic Forest area Northeast Brazil, under jurisdiction Brazilian Army. To accomplish aim, questionnaire survey was sent group stakeholders order evaluate initial set proposed 44 several ES. Through weighting scores, 25 were obtained. selected portray mainly provider regulating, cultural habitat services less provisioning services, related protection restrictions on Nevertheless, three top-rated dealt water availability, regulation quality (for human consumption). Together predominance water-related observed (ten out indicators), points relevance area. On other hand, specificity context not clearly reflected selected, since most applicable or contexts than one. Alongside expressing benefits provided nature, scorings reveal recognition importance biodiversity resilience This stresses supply, but also linked one major challenges managing high value: conciliating (that readiness) protection. Other similar particular jurisdiction, often representing fraction national forests, could learn from approach identify priority response measures. These driver increase improve management training safeguarding providing forests.
