Risk factors for violence against women by intimate partners in Sakarya, Turkey

摘要: Abstract Objectives Intimate partner violence (IPV) is an important public health problem in many countries including Turkey, with serious short- and long-term physical mental consequences, as well significant social costs. To understand the characteristics individual risk factors for both married women victims perpetrator partners are objectives of this study. Methodology 243 women, who have consulted to hospitals village clinics between 2008 2009 mean age 36.76 (SD = 11.59), accepted participate study voluntarily. Participants were divided into two groups “victimized” (58.8%, n = 143) “non-victimized” (41.2%, n = 100) women. Victimized group consisted had any type from their husbands during life. A 61-item questionnaire was prepared that included items on demographics, IPV experience, attitudes about knowledge legal rights. Results As compared non-victimized group, victimized mostly lived villages than town/city centers, illiterate, bride-price agreement younger when married. Place accommodation, number pregnancies associated victimization. Conclusions In order prevent IPV, further qualitative research required evaluate involved training programs how behave against association rights should be designed poorly educated natural settings hospitals.
