摘要: Cytochrome P450 superfamily proteins play important roles in detoxification of xenobiotics and during physiological developmental processes. To contribute to our understanding this large gene family insects, we have investigated the function cytochrome LmCYP4G102 migratory locust Locusta migratoria. Suppression expression by RNA interference (RNAi) does not interfere with moulting but causes rapid loss body weight - probably due massive water, death soon after moulting. Accordingly, maintaining these animals at 90% relative humidity prevented lethality. Consistently, RNAi against provoked a decrease content cuticular alkanes, which as an fraction hydrocarbons been shown confer desiccation resistance. In addition, cuticle LmCYP4G102-knockdown locusts was fragile easier deformable than control animals. Presumably, phenotype is decreased amounts water that reported modulate mechanics. Interestingly, expressed epidermis produces sub-epdiermal hepatocyte-like oenocytes. Together, results suggest oenocyte-specific plays critical role synthesis hydrocarbons, are for waterproofing mechanical stability L. migratoria
