摘要: Abstract Cyclotron damping by warm electrons limits the amplitude of high frequency electrostatic waves propagating in discrete auroral arcs. The effect this on whistler VLF hissupper hybrid noise and Bernstein modes is examined calculating temporal growth rates power flux intensities amplified produced precipitating electrons. are described a realistic distribution function. varying ionospheric conditions also considered. Whistler mode found to be less sensitive electron model than upper mode. rapidly absorbed difference peak indicative local value ratio plasma gyrofrequency. For exceed noisethis should greater 1. Ionospheric temperature has little spectrum, intense narrow beams function most effective at producing levels for given model.
