摘要: Abstract The recent data on large-angle scattering of heavy ions are reviewed. Typical features these anomalously large cross sections in the backward hemisphere, strongly oscillatory angular distributions, and highly regular gross structures modulated by much narrower excitation functions. A critical evaluation is presented different models proposed to understand various aspects data. Independent models, all show that nuclear surface more transparent than previously thought. presence functions both narrow broad indicates there an interplay reaction times, ranging from lifetime compound nucleus time associated with shape resonances ion-ion potentials. Partly because this apparently very complex mechanism, at present no quantitative all-encompassing understanding physical origin observed phenomena. Promising avenues for future theoretical experimental investigations pointed out.
