摘要: The effects of the glutamate N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor antagonist MK-801 in reducing ischaemic brain damage have been examined anaesthetised cats, with drug treatment being initiated 2 h after induction cerebral ischaemia. Focal ischaemia was produced by permanent occlusion one middle artery, and animals were killed 6 later. amount early irreversible assessed at 16 predetermined stereotactic planes. Treatment (5 mg/kg, i.v.) artery reduced significantly volume (from 1,625 ± 384 mm3 hemisphere vehicle-treated cats to 792 385 MK-801-treated cats). demonstration MK-801, when agent is administered ischaemia, extends therapeutic potential such agents focal humans.
