Onderstepoort Journal of Vet erinary Research, 66:111-117 A genomic library was constructed cosmid vector to serve as source easily accessible and pure for molecular genetic studies. The contained 846 clones which were arrayed into microtitre plates. Restriction enzyme digestion pat terns indicated that these had an average insert size 35 kb . Probing the arrays did not detect any bovine only one known genes, pCS20, detected. Due high AT content fact genes are active Escherichia coli host, SuperCos 1 most grow reproducibly. contaminated with E. maintained greater fidelity than clones, resulting skewed representation over time. We have isolated seven we able serially culture reproducibly; two overlap. These constitute first large regions be cloned represent almost 10% genome.
