摘要: Lack of access to potable drinking water due contamination from harmful metals is one the most pressing public health issues globally. In areas close mining and smelting operations, significant arsenic other can compound microorganisms in water. response this dual hazard, study tests a prototype design an improved point-of-use filter for resource-poor exposed populations. This project builds upon previous research that has demonstrated effectiveness clay pot filters impregnated with silver reducing coliform bacteria. A compatible attachment comprised activated charcoal form bone char was added purpose enabling combined system remove arsenic. The experiment tested designed source having concentration 500 parts per billion (ppb) investigate filter’s ability reduce acceptable World Health Organization standards 10 or below. results demonstrate decrease below ppb standard attachment, as well alone. These warrant further investigation into potential layer concentrations additional benefit removal by utilizing inexpensive material conjunction filter.
