摘要: Pathological angiogenesis of the retina is a key component irreversible causes blindness, as observed in proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR). The pathogenesis PDR complex and involves vascular, inflammatory, neuronal mechanisms. Several structural molecular alterations associated to are related presence inflammation that appears play non-redundant role neovascular response characterizes patients. Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) blockers have evolved over time for treatment retinal neovascularization. However, several limitations anti-VEGF interventions exist. Indeed, production other angiogenic factors pro-inflammatory mediators may nullify and/or cause resistance therapies. Thus, appropriate experimental models crucial dissecting mechanisms leading neovascularization discovery more efficacious anti-angiogenic/anti-inflammatory therapies This review focuses on tight cross talk between during describe how chick embryo chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) assay represent cost-effective rapid vivo tool study relationship inflammatory responses elicited by vitreous humor patients screening novel therapeutic agents.
